José María ‘Chava’ Jiménez, one of the most charismatic, closest cyclists and has generated the greatest passion in Spanish cycling, then you should not miss the documentary that starts tonight (22 hours) Movistar Plus+ because they will enjoy cycling out of style and a runner making a movie hollywood and one of the highest incomes.
José María Jiménez Tailor born in El Barraco, Avila, on February 6, 1971, and made history in Spanish cycling, especially in editions of the Vuelta in 1998 and 2001winning four and three mountain stages respectively and leaving stages to remember such as his resounding victory in Angels of San Rafaelin Black Lagoon or to Alto de l’Angliru after a ghostly apparition in the fog allowed him to wrest victory from Pavel Tonkov who has already tasted the honey of victory.
His career was a constant roller coaster and was cut short when in the winter of 2002 he was admitted to treatment for depression. He would not hold his head high and on Sunday, December 7, 2003, he died at the age of 32 of cardiac arrest, while showing a photo album of his sporting exploits to his comrades who, like him, was hospitalized in psychiatric clinic of San Miguel, in Madrid.
More than 20 years ago we said goodbye to José María Jiménez ‘El Chava’ and now Movistar Plus+ wants to pay tribute to him by broadcasting an exclusive documentary.
