The president of Cremoved the Spanish Olympic (COE), Alejandro Blancoexplained this Friday that he hopes for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this summer because Spain has “never” had “so much success in a pre-Olympic year and two years before”.
“Paris must give these athletes everything they deserve on this long path,” Blanco said in remarks to reporters at an event in Valencia, where he explained that he had “never” seen the athlete who is “very energetic.”
Blanco, who attended this Friday the event celebrating the centenary of the Valencia Club Atletismo, cited athletics as an example, because “it is immeasurable and in an extraordinary moment” and commented on the great form of María Pérez or Álvaro Martín .
“Paris has to give us everything the athletes have earned,” Blanco said, also stressing that it was the first time before the Olympic Games that it had predicted how many medals Spain would win, referring to the statements in which he asserted that they would exceed 22.
Although he is “very realistic,” he stressed that “the data forces you to tell the truth and if you get medals in the world championships, in the European championships…”.
“The athletes we have here are not champions, but the best in the world. Paris has to give them everything they deserve on this long path,” concluded the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee less than two months before the start of the Olympic event. EFE
