Fiorentina today announced the appointment of Raffaele Palladino as coach for next season, will take over Vincenzo Italiano, who on Sunday ended three years in charge after beating Atalanta 2-3 in a Serie A match still pending.

Palladino, 40 years old, He coached Monza for the last two seasons, but opted not to renew and ended his first spell as head coach. He arrived at Fiorentina after signing a two-year contract, with the option of a third.

“A few days after the end of the season, with the aim of planning the next one in the best possible way, I am very happy and proud to receive Raffaele Palladino as our new coach,” said the president of Fiorentina, Rocco Commisso, in the statement.

Italian, three losers in the finals

Italian He led Fiorentina from June 2021 and in his first season he managed to bring it back to Europe after a five-year absence and in the next two he qualified it for three finals, all of them lost: in 2022-2023 against at Inter in the Coppa Italia (2-1) and against West Ham (2-1) in the Conference League, a competition in which just a week ago they fell again, this time against Olympiacos in extra time (1 -0).

He arrived from Monza, his first solo stage

Palladino He began his career as a coach with the Monza youth team, a team where he hung up his boots as a player, before taking the reins of the first team in September 2022, replacing Giovanni Stropa after Lombard’s team failed to win any of its first six games of the season.

Monza, facing the first season of its history in Serie A, was at the bottom when Palladino took over and brought it to an 11th place finish. In the campaign just ended, they finished in 12th position.
