The clubs of Premier League gave their support to VAR after voting this Thursday, at Assembly annual clubs participating in the English championship this Thursday, in favor of the continued use of this technology in the competition.
The VAR had endorsement of 19 out of 20 clubs of the highest competition, which also agreed on a series of measures for the benefit of the game and the fans.
The changes Their decision is based on six main points, in which the Premier League and its clubs will play an important role in improving the system and its reputation.
The six main points are as follows:
1) Keep a high threshold for VAR intervention to achieve more consistency and fewer delays in game development.
2) Reduction of delays in the game, mainly through the introduction of technology semi-automated offside and maintaining a high threshold for VAR intervention.
3) Improve the fan experience by reducing delaysThe advertisements of referees at stadium after the change of later decision on VAR and, where possible, improving the offering of big screen replays to include all VAR interventions.
4) Work with Premier clubs to implement a more robust VAR training to improve consistency, emphasizing process speed while maintaining accuracy.
5) Increase the clear and communication around VAR, including increased communication from the Premier League Match Center and through broadcast programmes.
6) Implementation of a VAR communication campaign for fans and interested parties, who will strive to further clarify for participants and followers the role of VAR in the game.
With the implementation of semi-automated offside technology, clubs consider that this technology will provide a faster and more consistent placement of the virtual offside line, based on optical player tracking, and will produce high-quality broadcast graphics to ensure a better in-stadium and broadcast experience for fans.
In addition, the Premier League will continue putting pressure on the IFAB to allow more flexibility in the Laws of the Game to allow live video and audio broadcasts during VAR reviews.
