Yulenmis Aguilaraiming for a medal at the European Championships in Rome, was eliminated in the javelin throw qualification round in his first international competition in Spain.
The Spanish Cuban athlete started his tournament by throwing 54.89 meters, followed by another 57.25. The third, with pressure to reach the 60.50 required as the minimum for direct classification, was null and the 57.25 was not worth to pass the mark as he was thirteenth among all the contestants when only twelve passed .
The best in the qualification round was the Norwegian Marie-Therese Obst with 61.45 meters and the cut was with the Latvian Anete Sietina, with 57.71, with the twelfth mark.
Yulenmis Aguilar received Spanish nationality on April 10 by letter of nature and on May 28 he received official authorization from World Athletics to compete in Spain.
Yulenmis (Bayaco, Cuba; 1996), double Cuban javelin champion in 2015 and 2017, arrived in Spain at the end of December 2020. He did so after stopping counting for the national team in 2018 after winning bronze at the Central American Games and the Caribbean.

In 2023 he continued his development and in 2024, in his first official competition, the Spanish Winter Long Throw Championship in Jaén, he reached 63.90 meters with his javelin, the best mark of the season and further than 63.80 last year. , at the World Cups in Budapest, Australian Mackenzie Little won bronze.
In the other four competitions of this 2024, except for the Ibero-American Meeting in Huelva, where he was fourth, he won the other three, two in the Iberdrola Club League (60.68 and 56.21) and another in José Luis Hernández Memorial to Pamplona (56.52).
