The Embassy of China in Spain presented an official protest in front of real Madrid due to the recent remarks of a fan of the white club that he described as “insult towards China, vulgar and bad nature.” The diplomatic delegation of the Asian country in Spain declared in a statement published this Monday on its website “its shock and anger” at a video that includes the words of the fan, which, before the finals of the Champions League between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, sang an “insulting” song in an interview.
According to the Embassy, Real Madrid expressed its rejection of the “inappropriate behavior” of the fan, stressing that the club condemns “any form of racism and xenophobia.” Also, the Chinese diplomatic delegation added, the white club said that this action was an “isolated incident of an individual fan” and “does not represent the values and principles of the club or the majority of Real Madrid fans .”
Real Madrid also reiterated its “appreciation and respect” for Chinese fans and thanked its followers in the Asian country for their support, while expressing their desire to “continue to positively contribute to the friendship between Spain and China,” said a statement from the Chinese Embassy.
The incident has generated heated debate in recent days on Chinese social networks such as Weibo – with comments aplenty.
The video was recorded by the Chinese user of the TikTok social network Qiumhui, who interviewed the fans of the white club near the Wembley stadium, where the final was played. One of them, upon learning the nationality of the interviewer, began to sing: “A Chinese woman trembles for me, in your sister’s bed.”
The video reached Chinese social networks with subtitles, after which it gained popularity. “Before I became a Real Madrid fan, I was Chinese,” said many Internet users on Weibo, expressing their displeasure at the incident and even their willingness to boycott the white club, although others downplayed the situation and said that one fan cannot represent an entire club.
