The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) partially upheld the appeal of Spezia Calcium against the decision of FIFA prohibiting him from registering new players nationally and internationally, for four consecutive registration periods, and fined him CHF500,000.
The FIFA initiated disciplinary proceedings against the club in April 2021, after several investigations by the Italian police and the country’s football authorities, and allowed it for various violations of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players , in relation to minor Nigerian footballers.
According to the panel TAS case manager, the number of violations committed by Spezia is less than that specified by the Disciplinary Commission FIFAwhere the penalty imposed is reduced.
The court confirmed that it upheld the club’s ban on registering new players for two full and consecutive registration periods, one was suspended for a three -year probationary period, and it reduced the fine to 200,000 Swiss francs.
The club has already fulfilled the transfer ban in the first registration period in January 2022.
