The Russian Ekaterina Alexandrovathird favorite, signed his twelfth straight victory over American Emina Bektas in the tennis tournament of ‘s-Hertogenboschwhich is played on grass, and has won the last two editions.
The sixteenth-ranked player in the world, 29 years old, is aiming for his fifth trophy, the third in a row in the Netherlands. A finalist in Linz this 2024, he has not won an event since he won in Bolduque in 2023.
Alexandrova defeated Bektas 7-5, 6-4 and has twelve wins. Five in 2022 and as many as last year with the two obtained in this edition putting him in the quarterfinals where he will face American Robin Montgomery who eliminated German Jule Niemeier by doubles 6-3.
Russian Liudmila Samsonova, second seed, did not cause any surprises, as she eliminated Swiss Celine Naef after winning 7-5, 6-2 and will face Belgian Greet Minnen.
Serbian Aleksandra Krunic, the 2018 winner, had more trouble, needing three sets and two hours and 47 minutes to defeat American Jessica Pegula (7-6(3), 6-7(3) and 6-4. She met Italian Dalma Galfi who also stormed to the sets to knock Russian Veronika Kudermetova out of the tournament (6-3, 3-6 and 7-5).
