American Bryson DeChambeau leads a trio that includes Frenchman Matthieu Pavon by three strokes at the end of the third round of the US Open golf course, the third major of the season, played on Saturday in Pinehurst (North Carolina).
At the top of the classification, DeChambeau had a great day (67) with six birdiesbut was marred by a double bogey on the 16th hole that prevented him from taking the outright lead.
At the back of, Pavón shares second place three shots back with Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy and American Patrick Cantlay.
McIlroy (35 years old), world number 3 and winner of the tournament in 2011, is aiming to end his ten-year drought in major tournaments.
Leading after the 2nd round, young Swede Ludvig Aberg (24) occupies 5th place, 5 shots off the lead after a triple bogey on the 13th hole.
Only eight players were under par after three roundsa rarity on a difficult course with domed greens that buried many hopes.
