Razgatlioglu scored a hat trick at Misano and consolidated the lead

Date:

The Turk Toprak Razgatlioglu signed a triplet of wins in the round of Superbike World Championship at Misano and he became the first driver to achieve this in this 2024 campaign, winning both the race and the Superpole Race against Italian Niccolo Bulega. Alvaro Bautista has surrendered his lead at Misano and is now third behind his two rivals, but this Sunday he corrected in a long race, third again, his mistake in the Superpole Race where he crashed.

After his overall victory, the Turkish BMW leader leads the championship with 179 points, 21 ahead of Bulega and 24 ahead of Bautista.

On Media Day the Turk issued a warning and followed through on the threat with a triple demonstration. In the morning’s Superpole Race, Bulega was hardly concerned as he led the first three laps and from the fourth lap onwards the Turk was marking the territory. Bautista made a mistake and fell, but managed to climb back to tenth position to improve his starting position for the long race.

In race-2 Toprak had a bad start from pole and was overtaken by Bulega, Lowes and Locatelli. Bautista, for his part, made a good start and moved from eleventh to fifth and gained another spot two laps later. Bulega remained the race leader for the first seven laps, under a lot of pressure from Razgatlioglu. But on the eighth lap came the overtaking and soon the Turk was blocking. By the time Bautista caught up to Lowes, he had lost much time to think about victory.

Excitement was behind the battle between the returning Petrucci and Locatelli and Lecuona tried to pass Gardner, although he was unable to and settled for ninth position. Tito Rabat finished 15th Xavi Vierge crashed on the eighth lap.
