Jaime Busto ended Toni Bou’s winning streak in Valsassina

Date:

Jaime Busto (GasGas) this Sunday ended the winning streak of multiple champion Toni Bou (Montesa) in the Outdoor Trial World Championship by winning the second day of the Italian Grand Prix, held in Valsassina.

The Biscayan driver won this Sunday with 39 penalty points, four less than Toni Bou, who, after winning the first five races, had to settle for second place in the sixth. Italian Matteo Gattarola (Beta) completed the podium with 50 points.

Unlike on Saturday where 12 zones were wet due to rain, this Sunday the test was dry and Piera’s rider made more mistakes than usual in the second round. In the first, Repsol Honda took the lead with 22 points to GasGas’ 25. Busto added the maximum points in two sections, three for Bou and allowed him to turn the situation around to add 14 points compared to the Catalan’s 21.

In terms of the World Cup, Toni Bou, 17-time outdoor world champion and 17-time indoor world champion, leads the championship overall with 117 points, 27 more than his teammate and compatriot Gabri Marcelli, fifth this Sunday in Valsassina. Busto has 79. Busto, who has had a bad start to the World Cup, is fourth on 38 points, two behind veteran Raga.

The World Championship continues between July 5 and 7 with the German Grand Prix, in Neunkirchen, the fourth of the season.
