Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz trained on Monday with Andy Murray to prepare for his debut on Tuesday at Queen’s against Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo.
Alcaraz, on his third day of training at Queen’s, had planned to train with Grigor Dimitrov, but the Bulgarian had to cancel after playing on Monday against Adrian Mannarino. The Murcian team looked for an alternative and Murray was available. They asked the Scotsman and he accepted.
The Spanish tennis player first worked out for half an hour with his coach, Samuel López, before starting an hour-long workout against Murray, followed by a training set that they had to cut with 5-3 in favor of the British, which is on a level that is amazing.
Murray crashed out in the first round of last year’s Queen’s, after winning two previous Challengers, but this year he has come without victories on grass, losing in his Stuttgart debut last week against Marcos Giron.
After the set with Murray, Alcaraz stayed on the court longer to practice serving.
His debut is this Tuesday, at a time yet to be confirmed, against Francisco Cerúndolo, with whom he trained this Sunday. This will be the first ATP duel between the two players, who have already faced each other in a Futures in 2019, with the victory for Cerúndolo when Alcaraz was fifteen years old.
