India is looking for a coach on LinkedIn

Date:

The Football Federation of India (AIFF, in English) published this Wednesday a LinkedIn job offer and other social networks to find a selector for its national men’s soccer team, a position that became vacant this week after being eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Minimum experience of between ten and fifteen years as an elite coach, became soccer player or having a national team coach in the qualification phase of a World Cup or a continental tournament, are some of the demands of the AIFF for its new coach.

In return you are offered a uncertain salary, since the federation asks candidates to send along with their resume pretending economy.

This is an important point for the federation, which among the battery of fifteen requirements for his future coach asks him to achieve “a high level of football and personal excellence“adherence to budget guidelines.

The former Indian coach, the Croatian Igor Stimacwas sacked on Monday by the AIFF after the men’s team was eliminated in the second round of the World Cup qualifying phase.

Stimac has a contract until 2026, so he asked the AIFF yesterday to pay him a compensation “for terminating the contract without just cause” and threatened to file a lawsuit in case of non-compliance, according to Indian news agency PTI.

He also called his dismissal “unprofessional and unethical“, making sure that he did not contact the federation.

The purpose of India, a country with 1.4 billion people which has never participated in the final stage of the World Cup, was to access the third stage of qualification, but was eliminated last week after a controversial defeat against Qatar.

Currently, the Indian men’s team occupies the 121st place in the FIFA rankingconsisting of 210 countries, its worst ranking since March 2017.
