The Hungarian coach, Marco Rossicomplained about the Dutch refereeing Danny McKellie in the match his team lost 2-0 against Germany due to the play before the first German goal, in which, in his opinion, he should have called a foul Ilkay Gündogan to Willy Orban.
“He allowed a push against Orban and in a similar situation he called a foul against us,” Rossi said after the game.
“I didn’t look for an excuse”
“I have never complained in my career or made excuses, but what the referee did today is too much. Even the Germans have to recognize that he had a double standard,” he added.
Rossi admitted that Germany would probably have won the match in any case, but said the referee was “the worst person on the field”.
“Germany may be favorites in the Euro Cup, but they don’t need help from the referees. We’ll see if in the same situation in a Germany-France match the referee calls a foul or not,” the Italian coach stressed.
