Auditori 1899 was the scene of the presentation of the book ‘Fent Futbol, Fent Barça’, a posthumous book by former manager Jaume Amat i Curto, ideologist and creator of FC Barcelona Masia in 1978, after the electoral which is the success of Josep Lluís Núñez. At work, Amat recalls how the execution was carried out of Masia as a concept not only of a quarry, but of residence and sports, cultural and personal training of the players, one of them explained his personal experience in a very emotional act: Guillermo Amor.
The event was attended on stage by Amor, former player Paco Martínez, the journalist Francesc Perearnau, author of the prologue, and two of Amat’s relatives: Gemma Amat, one of his daughters, and Toni Soler (son-in-law). Elvira, Jaume Amat’s widow, was there, as were his four daughters. In an auditorium packed with several hundred attendees, there was one among others Santi Nolla, director of Mundo Deportivo; Vice President Elena Fort; the former president of the Generalitat Artur Mas; former Barcelona president Joan Gaspart; former players like Carles Rexach, Ramon Alfonseda, Joan Vilà or Josep Maria Nogués; he first delegate of the group, Carles Naval; former Barça manager Anton Parera; the former manager Antoni Rovira; former presidential candidate Victor Font or a former leader of Catalan football such as Josep Barcons (Damm), as well as representatives from sectors of the Barcelona world such as grassroots football or supporters clubs.
The most emotional moment It starred Guillermo Amor, who was moved to tears when reading a letter from Jaume Amat to his worried parents when, in 1978, he entered La Masia: “We will make him a good footballer, but above all better people. We adopted him like a son. Trust, Barça will not abandon you,” Amat assured the parents of a very emotional Amor.
Jaume Amat’s family is formed by six generations of Barcelona fans. Among them, a former contemporary Gamper player. Jaume Amat’s father collaborated with Miró-Sans and, in 1978, Jaume Amat is in the team by Victor Sagi. When he left the race for the presidency, Ferran Ariño and Josep Lluís Núñez tried him. He told them that he was willing to collaborate with whoever won, as long as they accepted his Masia concept. Núñez won and fulfilled the agreement with Amat.
Francesc Perearnau Jaume Amat’s figure shonewhile Paco Martínez (who joined the first team before the creation of La Masia) explained that “Jaume Amat was general director of Infrastructures i Carreteres during Pujol’s time. I was the mayor of Portbou and it helped me a lot. I know he thinks highly of me.”
