He Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI) This Monday he urged RTVE in close today the acquisition of television broadcasting rights for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games to broadcast them “with the greatest coverage” and reach a wide audience.
In a resolution approved at the annual Assembly of CERMI representatives, meeting in Madrid, it is recalled that the Paralympic Games are “the largest event in the world featuring people with disabilities” and contribute to projecting a positive image in society of this group.
In this context, he regrets that he has not yet secured the broadcasting of these Games on RTVE and assures that there is “great alarm and concern” in the sector at the possibility that, due to the lack of visibility in the media, the victories that achieved in recent decades will disappear.
CERMI also urged the Government to act before the RTVE Corporation so that the rights are obtained “in the shortest possible time and with all guarantees.”
At the end of May, the president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, Alberto Jofre, commented in a press conference about the complexity of buying the broadcasting rights for the Paris Paralympic Games because the company that owns them proposed “a astronomical figure”, which is “3,000 times more expensive” than the Tokyo 2020 edition.
