Evenepoel leads Soudal for the Tour, with Landa as a luxury teammate

The Belgian Remco Evenepoel will make his debut in Tour de France in front of Soudal Quick Stepa squad that has officially announced its “eight” for the event that starts this Saturday in Florence and ends in Nice on July 21, and which includes Mikel Landa.

“Running the Tour de France is the dream of every kid who fell in love with cycling. It’s something I’ve also dreamed about since I got on a bike and I’m very excited to be at the start for the first time in my career with this great team,” said Evenepoel, excited about the challenge presented to him.

The 24-year-old cyclist from Aalst is confident in his debut, where he will be surrounded by a team that will complete Mikel Landa, Jan Hirt, Yves Lampaert, Gianni Moscon, Casper Pedersen, Ilan Van Wilder and Louis Vervaeke.

“We have a strong squad and we are willing to give our best. Of course, I want to do a good Tour and get good results, but let’s not forget that this is my debut in this difficult and beautiful event like no other, so the plan is to discover the race, take it day by day and see where it takes us,” said Remco before leaving for France. For Soudal’s team director, Tom Steels, the team can aim “for a good result in the general classification.”

“With Remco and Mikel Landa, who have a lot of experience, like many of our riders, We have a pretty strong and balanced team.
