The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the appeal presented by World Athletics against the decision issued on October 27, 2023 by the disciplinary court, which declared that Kazakh Norah Jeruto did not violate anti-doping regulations.
Norah Jeruto, 3,000 hurdles world champion in Eugene (United States) in 2022, was suspended by World Athletics for “using a prohibited substance or method” related to her biological passport.
The Kenyan long-distance runner appealed to CAS, which ruled that Jeruto did not violate anti-doping regulations., a decision which World Athletics in turn appealed. And this Tuesday, the court confirmed the decision it challenged.
In its appeal to CAS, World Athletics requested the imposition of a four-year suspension period.
Jeruto won gold in the final of the 2022 World Championships in Eugene and also, with a time of 8:53.02, the third-best mark in history in the 3,000 hurdles. He previously represented Kenya, winning the African Championship in 2016 and the Diamond League final in 2021.
