Today the summer market starts in Spain, Germany, France and Italy

Date:

This Monday, July 1, the summer market of transfers, the first of two transfer windows allowed by FIFA during the season. As established by the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players in section 3 regarding the registration of players: “The first registration period can start, at the earliest, on the first day after the end of the competition period of the previous season and, at the latest, on the first day of the new season. The initial registration period should last between eight and 12 weeks“.

In the case of UEFA, as we told MD weeks ago, this Monday is the first day of official transfers in four of the five major leagues: France, Germany, Italy and Spain. That means, for now, players whose contracts ended yesterday, Sunday, June 30, can be officially registered by their new team. This is the case of Kilian Mbappé who may already be registered as a new Madrid player.

Only England does not start this market on the first day of July. Its market has been open since June 14, the same thing that happens, for example, in Wales. Until now they have only been able to transfer between national teams and now they can do it at the international level.

Three months to strengthen their squads

Now they have three months ahead of them to strengthen their squads, although there is also no consensus regarding the end of the market. Three of the five major leagues such as England, Spain and France will end on Friday, August 30. Again, the Premier League matches the other major leagues when it comes to closing its market. In the case of Italy, Saturday the 31st is when Calcio clubs will have a deadline to register players in their domestic league.

The latest of the major competitions is the Bundesliga, which will not close the market until Monday, September 2. Let’s not forget that it has set September 3 as the last day of registration of players for the three club competitions it organizes: Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
