1-0: Switzerland knocked down a Portugal with no CR7 and no more leadership

Date:

Switzerland won this Sunday in Geneva 1-0 against a Portugal without Cristiano Ronaldo, where this defeat left the Portuguese team out of the leadership of Group 2 of the Nations League. Now the Spanish team is ahead, after beating the Czech Republic (2-0). Portugal were looking for a comeback, but Fernando Santos ’staff had no goal against a great Jonas Omlin, this Sunday’s starting goalkeeper for Switzerland.

Switzerland, who faced visiting Portugal for the last time, without adding even a single more point, took the lead in the first minute, when Haris Seferovic scored with a headerafter receiving a cross from Silvan Widmer.

Switzerland struggled to maintain their lead, especially in the second half Portugal imprisoned him in his place and created occasion after occasion. However, Omlin, this Sunday’s replacement for Yann Sommer, shone under Switzerland’s goalposts.

Without CR7, Fernando Santos, the coach of Portugal, decided to break free from this match and start his vacation. But the other Portuguese stars did, however, have no purpose.

Bruno Fernandes didn’t get a good long pass in the 57th minute to finish. Manchester City winger Joao Cancelo will serve a one-match ban for accumulating yellow cards.

In the 72nd minute, Guedes was close to equalizing, but Omlin prevented it with a great intervention, just as he failed on one occasion by Diogo Jota. Bernardo Silva, in the orbit of Barcelonaalso sought the goal without success, as did Cancelo.

With an exciting ending to the battle, Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio prevented Zuber from taking second place for Switzerland, and were about to equal Portugal on an error, the first, by goalkeeper Jonas Omlin. And Pepe also caught the goal on several occasions. Jota can score on the last breath.
