Pogacar, Evenepoel and Vingegaard, swords raised in the general classification before the time trial

Date:

The objective was achieved for the candidates to win the Tour de France 2024 at the back of sixth stage of the race. Thursday’s flat day left no change in the general classification anywhere Tadej Pogacar continues as the leader ahead of this important stage this Friday.

Wait a 25.3 kilometer time trial between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin which may contribute to a significant change in the differences that exist until now. At the moment, the Slovenian leads with a 45 second difference Remco Evenepoel and there are 50 on Jonas Vingegaardwith the Juan Ayuso (in 1:10), Primoz Roglic (in 1:14), Carlos Rodríguez (in 1:16) and Mikel Landa (at 1:32) looking forward.

None of them had any trouble advancing on this sixth day. It just is Vingegaard experienced a bit of a scare in one of the moments where the peloton, at top speed, experienced complications due to the wind. The Dane partially lost control of his bike after trying to move to the side of the road, next to a ditch, but managed to stay on his feet to get through the toughest moment of the day.

It was completely calm for their rivals in the fight for the race, so the goal was achieved for them before Friday’s stage. Especially for a Pogacar who knows how to stay oblivious to the problems to maintain the advantage built days ago in the general classification before a day that can cause many changes.
