Carlos Sainz and Laia Sanz test in Teruel before traveling to Scotland

Date:

ACCIONA | SAINZ

The test has been a perfect opportunity to check the proper operation of the Odyssey 21, because in recent weeks it has been physically at the headquarters of the team and the mechanics have worked hard to prepare it after more than a year without calm access to the car, which traveled with the rest of the championship aboard the St. Helena ship, with very limited time available to keep it in perfect condition.

The test is also the only chance to fine-tune the electric off-roader’s set-up before sending all the team’s material to Scotland for the next race of the 2024 Extreme E Championship, the Hydro X-Prix. Therefore, in addition to all the necessary verifications after a thorough examination of the car, this shakedown served to analyze and improve the suspension setup.

Laia Sanz is the starting driver of the team present in Masía Pelarda, due to the short nature of the shakedown did not cause to travel with her teammate Fraser McConnell, who lives in Jamaica. However, Laia was not alone and drove alongside Carlos Sainz, who contributed his enormous experience and, at the same time, refreshed his knowledge of the car, which had changed significantly since Carlos stopped in working as a team driver officer.

Masía Pelarda is a farm in Teruel with more than 200 hectares dedicated to off-road driving, with many routes of different levels of difficulty and demand. This provides the perfect environment to test the durability and behavior of the Odyssey 21, days before it returns to active competition.
