Valeria Antolino, jumping spot to close the Spanish Olympic team for the Paris Games

Date:

It was a matter of time since last February but We had to wait until this Monday, day of the official closing of springboard diving relocations for the Paris Olympic Games, to confirm this. It was finally announced this Tuesday through the RFEN statement. But, as expected, Spain gained a place by reassigning the women’s three-meter springboard falling to Valeria Antolino.

Antolino has the honor, therefore, and except for unexpected changes at the last minute, of be the final qualifier of the Spanish team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This is the 382nd officially classified athlete, completing the quota of starters augmented by substitutes from various team sports without counting these quotas toward the final official numbers.

It was not an easy road to this Olympic plaza. is Mary Papworth at the Doha World Cup in February that tied it, on a delayed basis, for Spain. Papworth finished seventeenth on February 9 in the three-meter springboard, where sixteen direct tickets to Paris were distributed. In this way, we had to wait for only one of the sixteen qualifiers to double their presence in the synchronized test so that their place was free and the Spaniards took it.

The problem is that it was not officially known until this Monday. In the middle, The Royal Spanish Swimming Federation formed an internal selection to see who occupies that officious place. This one won Anthonyso that Papworth, despite taking it, would not be the one to take it to the Paris Games.

So, after Valeria’s classification became official, the entire trampoline diving team for the Paris Games was fully determined. It will be led by the brand new world bronze medalists on the synchronized three-meter springboard Nicolás García Boissier and Adrián Abadía, who will participate in their fetish test. They went with them Ana Carvajal on a ten-meter platform, the first to achieve classification, and Valeria Antolino on a three meter spring. Spain waited for more possible reassignments, but in the end it didn’t happen and Jorge Rodríguez was just one step away from qualifying on the ten-meter platform.
