The coach of the men’s soccer team United States, Gregg Berhalterwas deposed after his failure to America Cup, his federation announced this Wednesday. Berhalter, 50 years old and in office from June 2023, after a first term from 2018 to the end of 2022, was ousted “with immediate effect,” the US federation announced in a statement.
The United States, host country of the Copa América, suffered a regrettable elimination last week in the group stage of the competition played at home after two defeats (Uruguay, Panama) and one victory (Bolivia). The team hopes to show a better face during the 2026 World Cup that it will co-organize with Mexico and Canada.
The federation has begun the search for a coach who can “maximize our potential during our preparations for the 2026 World Cup,” sporting director Matt Crocker was quoted as saying in the statement. These are some coaches who are on the candidate list.
