The second round of the Amundi Evian Championship was suspended this Friday due to lightning strikes in the area. Stewards continue to monitor the weather with a view to resuming the second round once the dangerous situation has been safely cleared. However, the storm continued to intensify with heavy rain, thunder and lightning.
The second round will continue on Saturday at 7:30 am, followed by the thirdwhich starts at approximately 10:45 am, from two tees.
At 12 strokes under par after 13 holes, Japan’s Ayaka Furue has a three-shot lead over Australia’s Stephanie Kyriacou and South Korea’s Haeran Ryu, after 16 and 11 holes respectively.
Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit, co-leader of the first round and share of the overnight lead, was a shot behind, tied for fourth place with American Angela Stanford, winner of the 2018 Amundi Evian Championship.
Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad, co-leader of the first round, is tied for sixth place with South Korean trio Hyo-Joo Kim, 2014 champion, Mi Hyang Lee and Yu Jin Sung, having the lowest round of the day, a 63-under par.
Scottish Gemma Dryburgh, co-leader of the first round, is tied at six strokes for 10th place, at six under par after nine holes, with American Lauren Coughlin, South Korean trio Hye-Jin Choi, Jin Young Ko, Narin Si An and Englishwoman Georgia Hall, who recovered from a bad start to score 67, even though she was suffering from an injury.
Carlota Ciganda managed to end a disastrous day where she scored 80 strokes. Things got better for Azahara Muñoz, who scored 68 for a total of 141.
