According to the scheduled schedule, the Spanish team started their ‘tour’ in Madrid after winning the Euro Cup and its first stop was La Zarzuela Palace, home of the Royal House. They were accepted there by HM King Felipe VI, Queen Leticia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia in an audience where both expeditions were able to congratulate each other again after doing so on the lawn of the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
One by one the players went through to greet the Royal Family and between both sides there was a display of complicity and sympathy typical of these situations.
As a gift, Alvaro Moratathe captain of the national team gave the king a commemorative t-shirt with a silkscreen of ‘The Kings of Europe’ referring to the 4 Euro Cup trophies won so far and then, already around the palace, they did the formal family portrait with the entire expedition of choice.
Finally, King Felipe VI addressed the players and thanked them for “playing so well and with so much joy that you have given us this victory.”
