Kevin Magnussen will not continue at Haas

Date:

The Danish Kevin Magnussen will not proceed to haas as soon as this season ends. This was announced by the American team on Thursday a few hours before the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

After seven seasons with the team, the Nordic driver will step down from the team seat MoneyGram Haas F1 Team once his contract expires at the end of the current campaign. However, after Magnussen’s departure was confirmed, the name of Esteban Ocon as his possible replacement after Alpine confirmed the Frenchman’s departure after the Monaco GP.

As soon as his departure from the Haas team became official, Magnussen thanked the team for the trust it had given him. “I’m proud to have ridden for a great team of people these past few years, but I want to thank Gene Haas for his commitment to me, and especially for having me back in 2022, when I thought my moment in Formula 1 is over. (…) While I impatiently await my next chapter as a driver, I remain focused on giving everything in the rest of 2024 with the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team,” announced the Danish driver.

Magnussen will compete in twelve races between now and the end of the 2024 season, which concludes in Abu Dhabi in December. To date, he has taken part in 175 Formula 1 tests, 135 of them as a Haas team driver spread over two different stages. The first from 2017 to 2020 and the second from 2022 to 2024.

On the other hand, the American team recently confirmed with the British Oliver Bearman as one of its drivers for next season, making its debut in Formula 1.
