Rakitic goes home: he will sign for Hadjuk Split

Date:

The Croatian Ivan Rakitic decided to end his adventure in Saudi Arabia, where he arrived last winter after beginning to feel unimportant in the world. Seville who was then trained by Quique Sánchez Flores. Despite being the captain and strong man in the locker room, the Madrid coach explained that he expects him but not as a regular in the eleven. He weighed everything and decided to embark on an adventure with Al-Shabaabalso doing Sevilla a favor by releasing one of the highest chips in the squad.

Hadjuk Split coached by Gennaro Gattusso will be his next destination, according to Fabrizio Romano who is always knowledgeable about market movements. There he will be joined by another popular member of the Croatian team, Ivan Perisic.

In this move, Rakitic is also finding his roots and will be playing in a league he doesn’t know, because even though he has made history with the Croatian national team, he has never played at club level in his second country of origin. The former Barcelona and former Sevilla player began his career in Switzerland, his country of birth. He played in the youth teams of the Swiss federation and jumped from Basel to the Bundesliga, to Schalke 04, from where he arrived at Sevilla in January 2011, recruited by Monchi.

In Saudi Arabia, Rakitic played only 8 games, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Although he declared that it was a challenge that he liked, the truth is that the lack of football roots in a country where petrodollars reign he, like many others, returned to Europe. There is a lack of officialdom to make the movement a reality.
