In two days, the Biscayan promoter Kamikaze Promotions has acquired the rights to three Spanish championships, all three with Basque boxers in the fray, as reported by Royal Spanish Boxing Federation.
“If yesterday we were talking about the agreement then that’s it Johan Orozco defend his super lightweight crown in Bilbao against Saúl Luna, today the same promoter won the two auctions held in Madrid,” said the federation.
In the first of them, the bantamweight, Kamikaze Promotions acquired the rights to organize the rivalry between Renterian. Sebastian Perez and the canary Jonathan Santana. In the second, he also made the lightweight title, which he should measure against the Basque Jokin García and Brian Peláez from Madrid.
October was also established as the reference date for these last two matches, so the promoter could present an event with these three championships. In Bilbao, this has happened twice in history: the first was in 1952 in the mythical and now lost. Basque pedimenta, which hosts Juan’s duels José González Incera (from Cantabrian but settled in Guipúzcoa and amateur champion for this group) – Young Martín, Agustín Argote – Emilio Orozco and Alejandro Arteche – José González Sales, fast, light and heavy weight (respectively).
That was the second time three national titles were held in our country at the same time and the date was… October 25 of that year 1952.
72 years later… will it happen again in 1984 (thanks Jose Luis Sanz to refresh our memory)? It may even be surpassed, as two other men associated with the promoter are current national champions (John Jader Obregón and Mario Ospina).
