Verstappen: “You can all go to hell”

Date:

Max Verstappen did not have his best day at the Hungarian GP. The Dutch driver had no chance of winning against the McLarens and was fighting for third place until he collided with Hamilton, relegating him to fifth position. He didn’t have the best car anymore and had brake problems and the front of the car went into a curve. And here we have to add the strategy that made him explode on the radio.

He was criticized online for some comments he made to his engineers. And he did not hesitate to respond to his critics in front of the international press, in the media corralito, under the watchful eye of MD: “You can all go to hell”

“You gave me a shitty strategy, okay? I’m trying to save what’s there,” he said on the radio during the race in one of the many comments he made. The team chose to extend Max’s stops, a mistake in Hungary, as he had to go against the current and try to come back after losing track time without stopping first.

“We didn’t have the pace to fight with McLaren, but I think we could have been third,” he argued after the race in the written media corralito.

“The wrong approach put me in a situation where I had to keep fighting with the drivers, trying to overtake, and now it didn’t work.”

“The track is very hot and as soon as you get close to the cars, the tires overheat and the whole advantage doesn’t work anymore,” he concluded. And with his approach, he lost third place to Hamilton and had to make his tires worse by fighting for position with Lewis in his second stint. And in third, another late stop saw him lose another position to Leclerc, who he struggled to recover before reaching Hamilton. He lost time in those fights against the Monegasque and a Lewis that he finally crashed due to a mistake. He was 5th after Leclerc because of that mistake.
