This decision, the union explained, was due to widespread “feelings of dissatisfaction” among staff over the agreement signed on July 16 between the management of the public group ADP, which is responsible for managing Paris airports, and the most unions.
That understanding served to deactivate a strike scheduled for the 17th demanding bonuses for increased work during the Games, but according to the FO – who did not sign the agreement – the progress made is “partial” and “modest.”
In particular, the FO demands an improvement in salary scales, such as, for example, that the bonus of 300 euros to be paid to all ADP employees will be increased to 1,000 euros.
The ADP group employs a total of 570,000 people in France, mainly concentrated at Charles de Gaulle-Roissy (403,300), Orly (157,440) and Le Bourget (10,120) airports. The Force Ouvrière, according to the French press, represents around 11% of airport workers.
During the summer, the two largest airports (Charles de Gaulle and Orly) receive an average of 350,000 passengers per day.
On the occasion of the Games, the tourist office in Paris expects to receive 15.3 million visitors, but 90% will be French and, of them, almost half will come from nearby areas in the Paris region of the Île de France.
