FIFA denounced that “some European leagues are acting with commercial interests and hypocrisy”

The governing body Gianni Infantino considered “the leagues, apparently, prefer a calendar full of friends and summer trips, which often involves extensive travel around the world.

“On the other hand, FIFA must protect the general interest of world football, including player protectionanywhere and at all levels of the game,” he defended.

The international union of professional footballers (FIFPRO) and the European Leagues, representing more than 1,000 clubs in 33 countries across the continent, announced Tuesday that they presented a complaint contiguous against FIFA before the European Commission for the “unilateral imposition” of the international match calendar.

For both parties “the international match calendar is current oversaturated forks unsustainable for the national leagues and for the health of the players.
