This Monday, Dani Arce from Burgos made it to the final of the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Paris Olympic Games by finishing fourth in his heat, with a time of 8:18.31, the qualifying round held at the Stadium de France.
Arce, 32 years old and trained by Benjamín Álvarez, had a perfect race, always in the leading group with the best of his series and, when he had to push in the last lap, he knew how to fight the gear change to finish fourth despite stalking Kenyan Amos Serem, who staged a brilliant comeback in those final metres.
“These are the Games and you have to suffer. I feel good, very solvent,” said Dani Arce, fifth at the last European Championships in Rome, at the end of the event.
The fastest in the Spanish series is the great favorite for the medals, the Moroccan Soufiane El Bakkali.
This is the second Olympic Games for the Burgos athlete. Initially, at Tokyo 2020, he did not make it past the first round.
