Argentine tennis players Melina Ferrero and Sofia Luini were suspended for match manipulation under the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) for three and seven years respectively as ordered by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), during which time they cannot play, train or attend any event on the women’s (WTA) or men’s (ATP) circuit or any national association, as reported by the ITIA, this Tuesday, in a statement.
Ferrerowhose highest position in the WTA ranking was 731, in May 2015, failed to respond to 12 ITIA accusations related to three parties in 2017 and 2018which includes sports betting where the player, by not responding to the charges, admits his responsibility.
In its part, Clean upwhich reached number 492 in September 2014, opposed 24 accusations, related to six parties in 2017 and 2018 where he was accused of the same charges as his countryman.
Both players are suspended effective July 23, 2024date when their decisions were issued.
