The midfielder of Lille Angel Gomes Has been released from hospital after losing consciousness during Saturday’s Ligue 1 match at Stade Reims. The match was delayed as Gomes, 23, was treated on the field for more than 30 minutes after colliding with Reims midfielder Amadou Kone in the 11th minute.
The former Manchester United player was carried out on a stretcher as fans of both clubs chanted his name. Kone was sent off after the incident and Lille won the GMAE 2-0.
“I’m fine, I’m back home. They’ve taken care of me and I feel good,” said Englishman Gomes in an Instagram video posted on Sunday. “I want to thank all the medical staff at the club and the hospital that treated me. “This crazy crash, these things happen in football. But the important thing is, I’m okay. We won by three points.” Gomes also thanked the fans of both clubs for their “enormous” support. “PS Remind me not to jump to head any more balls,” he jokingly wrote.
