He Australian Ben O’Connor (Decathlon Ag2r), leader of the Vuelta after eleven stages played, admitted this Wednesday that he had a “bad time” against rivals who turned out to be superior.
“You can say that I had a bad moment, yes. It was a very explosive finish, and there were already some very strong rivals. It’s not the worst scenario. I’m not naive, there are many riders who are very dangerous in this race ,” he said.
O’Connor lost 37 seconds compared to his direct rivals in the general classification, starting from Primoz Roglic, which violently attacks the latter port, and proceeds to the Balearic Enric Mas and the Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz.
“I’ve had better days, and this is the story of the Vuelta so far: a good day, a regular one, a good day, a regular one… I hope I can change it and every day is a good day ,” he concluded.
