Aaron Gate and Burgos BH swept the Tour of Hainan

Date:

Goal achieved for Burgos BH in China. The purple team maintained the lead with the lead of overall classification of the Tour of Hainan and Aaron Gate He took the final victory and the corresponding yellow jersey. The men from Burgos worked at the front of the peloton in the fifth and final stage to defend the first place of the New Zealander, who finished seventh in the sprint in Sanyabehind his companion Georgios Bouglaswhich became the fifth. A victory accompanied by the green points jersey, the team classification prize, the two stages achieved this week and the presence of four purples in the top-20. A balance that surpasses even what was achieved a week ago Trans-Himalaya Cycling Racewhere Gate also took the yellow jersey as overall leader.

Burgos BH once again took the reins of the peloton in the final and longest stage of the Tour of Hainan, which exceeded 200 kilometers. Rodrigo Álvarez, George Jackson, Georgios Bouglas and Eric Fagúndez They are in charge of getting to the front of the group and control the main movements of the other teams, to avoid any changes in the general classification led by Aaron Gate. For their part, José Manuel Díaz and Jambaljamts Sianbayar came out with some dangerous attacks, with the Mongol entering one of the breakaways in search of mountain points. None of the breakaways put the sprint resolution at risk, with Bouglas (5th), Gate (7th) and Sainbayar (11th) finishing in the first positions.

The New Zealand champion proved his success in the general classification, joined by some of his teammates in positions of honor. José Manuel Díaz (7th), Jambaljamts Sainbayar (10th), Rodrigo Álvarez (19th) and Eric Fagúndez (24th) They added to the ever-important loot of UCI points that the purple team takes. Gate also clearly took the regularity classification and its green jersey, while Burgos BH finished as the best racing team, as it did last week in Tibet. An Asian tour that allows the Burgos team to reach 13 victories this season.

Damien Garcia (sports director): “We came here with a lot of desire and enthusiasm after winning the overall in Tibet. The boys worked well as a team from the first day, throwing George in the first stage, even the fatigue from the previous day trip only allowed us to be seventh. From there the engine started to work and the cyclists worked together well, with a clear goal. Aaron achieved a bitter second place in the next stage, but then came the well-deserved victory in the queen stage, with a solo attack after great work from the team. In the fourth stage we were in control from kilometer zero to the end and managed to finish Aaron again, who knows how to take advantage of his form. In this last stage we have to highlight again the work of the seven cyclists, who soon began to control the peloton and followed several attacks. In the sprint, Georgios was a bit trapped, but, despite being beaten all day, he managed to finish fifth. I think the balance is exceptional for Burgos BH, with two stage victories, a second place and presence in the race every day, in addition to the individual, team and points classifications. I would also like to highlight the work of the staff, who were very united throughout the week. These four victories in eight days are a reflection of the team’s excellent year. This is something we should enjoy. We will go home very happy and eager to finish the season as well as possible and start looking towards 2025.”

Burgos BH’s season does not end here. There are still a few races ahead where the purples will try to put the icing on the cake. September will be a relatively quiet month, featuring the Italian premiere of the Giro de Tuscana and the Sabatin CupYo. After that, they will return to Asia to compete in Langkawi Tour in Malaysia and Taihu Lake Tour in China. Three events where the stagiaires will debut, whose names will be announced in the coming days. To all this we have to add the Road Cycling and Track Cycling World Championships, which will have the participation of some purples.
