The level of David Alonso in Moto3 This is one of the signs of the birth of a star. The Colombian is the great leader of the competition for things like he did in the Emilia Romagna GP. Without having to risk thanks to his advantage at the top of the general classification, the rider of the Aspar Team once again signed a magnificent victory in a brutal battle at Misano with Angel Piqueras and Daniel Holgado. Already has eight wins in 14 races and has a 79 point margin in the lead. Almost insulting dominance that is unprecedented in history.
Piqueras wanted to win for the second time in a row but David did not give up and had to settle for second place on the podium. Things were worse for Holgado. The GasGas driver exceeded the track limits and was removed from third place in favor of Collin Veijer.
Furusato defended pole at the start and the Japanese maintained the position in a bumpy start. Piqueras started badly from third position as David Alonso collided with Ortolà. Things are worse for David Muñoz, who crashed at the first chicane.
Despite all this, within just a few laps we had a change of leader. Alonso passed Furusato and wanted to stretch the group with his pace. Also very strong from behind was Dani Holgado, who overtook the Colombian and led 17 laps to join the massive group of fifteen drivers.
Brutal rhythm to break the group
It was almost separating the wheat from the chaff and there, with 14 laps to go, Angel Piqueras, winner of the previous event in Misano, took the lead. But there is no way to destroy the group. The equality was such that at the slightest mistake there was a change of leader. To overtake you have to take a lot of risks and there are touches that almost end up in accidents like between Furusato and Adrián Fernández
Those who did not move were Alonso, Holgado and Piqueras. In fact, all three of them have the most rhythm and With 9 laps remaining, the fastest lap of the race was set (1:40.6) to finally filter the candidates for success.
Lap by lap was very fast because there was no overtaking and only Veijer was able to catch up with the three of them. A fierce battle for victory was expected and the season opened with two laps to go. Holgado hit Alonso with an ax at turn 14 and Piqueras stuck with him to overcome the Colombian.
But the Aspar team player will not stay with his arms crossed. At turn eight on the final lap he retook first place, overtaking the two on the back straight. Then it was time to defend and he did it as usual: flawless. Piqueras still tried but the World Cup leader did not give up and achieved his eighth victory of the year.
Ivan Ortolá paid dearly for being left behind in the group and by the time he finished fifth, his rivals were too far behind to find victory. He finally closed the TOP5 ahead of Lunetta and Kelso.
