He National-Junior which last morning was played at the Atanasio Girardort in Medellín (Colombia) had to be suspended in the middle of the second half due to violent confrontations between fans of both teams, carrying knives and other types of weapons.
In the 56th minute, just after the score was 2-0, events erupted. It seems that the Junior fans, about 300, who arrived at the Antioquia stadium and are located at the top of the north stand, started everything. According to the ‘Win Sports’ broadcast, Junior bars attacked some local fans, crossing the area assigned to them.
In the pictures you can see a huge group of fans rushing Junior and attacking Nacional fans. You can also see how some of them fall (or throw themselves) from one stand to another, falling meters below. That would lead to a reaction by the purslane team’s bars who searched the visiting fans, causing moments of chaos in the stadium.
Referee Nolberto Ararat had to suspend the match and players from both teams had to run for cover in the locker room.
