Alonso sets date for Aston Martin to challenge for title and reveals his priority beyond F1

Date:

Fernando Alonso He is the driver with the most Grand Prix wins in the history of Formula 1. At 43 years old, he still maintains the same ambition as when he debuted in 2021. And now he has his sights set on becoming champion again, 18 years after his second and final crown.

For this Aston Martin must take a step forward in the coming years. Especially with the regulation change in 2026, those from Silverstone signed up Adrian Newey the best engineer in F1 history. At that moment Fernando Alonso wanted to fight for the title again.

“Not at the moment. It’s very attractive to win the Monaco GP, win the 24h of Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500. I tried three times at Indy without success. It’s the only thing I’m missing but now it’s gone my plans now are focused on F1. In the next two or three years I want to win a third World Cup. This is my first and only priority at the moment,” the Spaniard said at a Cognizant event when asked about the possibility of seeking the Triple Crown again.

The Dakar before the 500 Miles

Alonso just needs to win the Indianapolis 500 to complete the Triple Crown. Easy to say but very complicated to do. Therefore, for Fernando it is not a close goal and he does not think it will happen again. His gaze beyond F1 is more focused on the desert.

“After this, when I’m 45 or 46, I think about the commitment of going 500 miles is quite a loteither. At least that’s what I’m thinking now. I also have other goals in life. I think so my next big goal is the Dakar. If he can win, I think it will be more rewarding because I could win in F1, in endurance and if I can also in rally it would mean a lot to me as a driver,” concluded the Asturian.
