The fans of Borussia Dortmund, that this Tuesday they celebrated in style their team’s win against the Celtic The Scotsman (7-1), did not waste the opportunity offered by the dispute in their team’s first Champions League match this year on home soil to reassert their front opposition to UEFA.
Before the game, in one of the backgrounds, the German fans showed the legend ‘UEFA MAFIA’, with a banner running through the place, from end to end, loud: “You don’t care about sport, you only care about money.”
The complaint was prompted by what Dortmund fans, in addition to other Bundesliga teams, consider a commercialization of the Champions League and UEFA’s other European competitions. “The magic of European competitions is becoming more and more devalued of UEFA and the ECA (European Club Association)”, these entities accuse.
The groups of fans attached to this protest are united in a website (https://nein-zur-cl-reform.de) where they explain in detail all their complaints. Among the signatories to this manifesto are fan groups, in addition to Dortmund, Cologne, Bayer LeverkusenBrondby, Bayern MunichSnat Pauli, Hannover, Hertha, Malmoe, Freiburg, Rapid, Stuttgart, Werder Bremen, Boys and Copenhagen, among others.
