Paul Pogba released a statement after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his doping suspension from four years to 18 months. The France Juventus player has appealed the penalty imposed on him on February 29, 2024 by the Italian Anti-Doping Court after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) at the end of a Serie A match against Udinese played on August 20, 2023.
“Finally the nightmare is over. Following the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, I can look forward to the day when I can pursue my dreams again,” Pogba’s statement began.
“I have always said that I did not intentionally violate the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency by taking a nutritional supplement that was prescribed to me by a doctor and does not affect or improve the performance of male athletes,” continued Pogba .
Thanks to the judges
“I play with integrity and, although I must accept that this is a crime of strict responsibility, I want to record my gratitude to the judges of the Court of Arbitration for Sport who listened to my explanation,” highlights the 31- year-old French player.
And ends: “It was a very difficult time in my life. because everything I worked for was stopped. Thanks again for all the love and support. “I can’t wait to get back on the field.”
After the reduction of his suspension, Pogba will be able to play again in March 2025 with Juventus, now managed by Thiago Motta.
