The coach of Elche, Eder Sarabiasaid Friday, in a press conference, that his team had “fewer points” than it should have scored during the competition. The Basque coach emphasized the good tone shown by the team in the last two away games, where they added three points, and recalled that in these matches “they only had one shot at the goal.”
The coach indicated that the team from Elche must show “another point of hunger” against Deportivo de La Coruña, their next rival, who he described as “a good team”.
Sarabia did not reveal whether the defeat to Ferrol would bring about a change in the system, as he pointed out that the match plan has less to do with the result of the previous match than with what Elche intends to do. “We are always ready for different alternatives,” commented Sarabia, who admitted not knowing which Deportivo de La Coruña will go to the Martínez Valero stadium.
“They can mark the man, play 4-4-2… We are ready for different things and within those nuances we have to be more aggressive in certain situations and be more vertical, ” explained the Elche coach.
Sarabia, who is pleased to have many “alternatives” of players in the midfield, predicted a “fascinating” match against Deportivo between two teams “that look more at the opponent’s goal than their own and there are very good football players on the field”. The coach did not want to review the latest arbitrations and commented that coaches have a tendency to “not ask for justice, but rather for our benefit.”
The Biscayan also referred to his first 100 days in Elche, a period of time he described as “very intense.” “I’m very happy here. It’s a shame to have those four or five more points,” insisted the coach, who stressed that he has reached “the perfect place where I want to be much more.”
Finally, Sarabia spoke of his good rapport with the entity’s owner, Argentine Christian Bragarnik, and the rest of the club’s leadership. “They know I’m involved and I try to help and encourage as much as I can. We’re all aligned, with strength and the desire to continue,” he concluded.
