A headed goal from Jon Bautista in the first half on Saturday ended Eibar’s three-day winless streak and began to feel the jitters of dropping down the standings, which ends at the moment.
After an even match in which the locals suffered until the end against an Eldense who did not give up, the three points stayed with Ipurua and put Eibar back at the top of the table.
Eldense started with confidence, with a clear vision going forward. The visiting team came out with energy, having the initiative in the first minutes.
However, Eibar had the first chance in the 7th minute when a shot from outside the area by Matheus rose. A minute later it was Puertas who tried it with a low shot that went in and was well cleared by Mackay.
It was an attempted reaction from Eibar, who again short-circuited Eldense with good defending. Minutes passed and Eibar were unable to set the tempo of the match. Eldense dared to push harder.
The game was at a standstill and had to be in the 37th minute when Eibar unblocked it, in a set piece after a corner kick served by Matheus, headed into Bautista’s net despite Mackay handling the ball. Second consecutive goal for Errenteria and third on his own account this season. A blow to the Alicante team who had completely controlled the match up to that point.
A long-range shot by Corpas in the last minute of the first period and a point-blank shot by Bautista that Mackay stopped were the only things Eibar noticed after the goal.
But the best chance was for Eldense and it came in added time with a shot from Dumic going straight into Fuzato’s hands.
Eibar started the second half strongly with a powerful shot from Alkain forcing Mackay to clear wide when the ball was between the posts.
Eldense immediately responded to a superb shot from Marc that Fuzato deflected with his foot into a corner kick.
In the 58th minute it was Corpas who would have scored his team’s second, with a powerful shot that Mackay stopped first and the rebound hit the right post of his goal.
Moments later, in the 64th minute Víctor García risked a powerful shot, which was a further warning that Eldense was not giving up.
The Alicante team tried, but both teams were tired, forced to lower the intensity at the beginning of this first half due to heavy damage and nerves of a very tight score.
The referee disallowed Chapela’s goal in the 80th minute due to previous offside. Chapela, the most active player of the season, once again enjoyed a new opportunity with a header that went centimeters wide.
The latter was also for Eldense, Younnes in particular, in the minutes of added time and another header went wide. Despite the attempts until the end, the lack of success in front of the goal proved the defeat of the Alicante team.
