Calhanoglu admits contacts with Inter ultras and risks sporting sanctions

The Turkish Hakan Calhanoglumidfielder Inter Milanadmitted to Italian authorities investigating the ‘Ultras Case’ that he maintained direct contacts with the leaders of his team’s radical fan faction, which could lead to a sporting sanction as it is an act punishable by Sports Code.

Calhanogluas revealed by the local media this Thursday, has been recognized as having direct contact with Marco Ferdico and Andrea Belloco, known leaders of the ‘Curva Nord 69’ and linked to the Calabrian mafia. Ferdico was one of those arrested on September 30 with 19 others involved in an illegal business plan in Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) and affiliated with the mafia.

Belloco, for his part, was assassinated at the beginning of September by another radical interist leader.

Calhanoglu denied meeting them for dinners or meals in a relaxed manner. The player also acknowledged that Inter recommended that he not contact the aforementioned ‘ultra’ leaders.

For its part, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has asked the Prosecutor’s Office of Milan for investigative documents to start a legal process in the field of sports, which is independent in general.

And according to the FIGC Sports Code, both Calabria and Calhanoglufor having contacts with ‘ultras’, now risks having a sporting sanction, one or more matches, and a financial sanction of 20,000 euros.

“Belonging to a sports entity is forbidden to maintain relations with representatives of groups that are not part of the associations that have an agreement with the clubs,” reads the aforementioned code.
