Athletic allocated 75.8 million in its budget last season in terms of expenses for the first team. The amount set for the current year includes the amount of 84.7 million. Therefore, the first team is worth almost nine million more this year.
In other red and white groups there is also an increase from one year to the next. From 7.8 million a year ago it goes to 10.9 today. Personnel expenditure in terms of total sports personnel ranges from 83.6 million in the 2023-24 season to 95.7 million currently or, which is the same; 12.1 million more expensive from one year to the next.
The increase in spending also affects non-sports personnel, because as Athletic itself pointed out in its report, from 11.6 to 13 million (1.4 million more).
It’s boring
Another notable aspect of the data provided by the red and white club in its extensive and detailed annual report is that related to compensation: 365,600 euros allocated to sports personnel and 119,000 to non-sports personnel. Athletic itself also specified that in the previous season 539,100 euros were allocated to pay sports personnel.
“We know that, in order to maintain all these personnel expenditures in the staff and sports structure, we have to aim for a level of income higher than what we currently reach. And if we don’t, as said I used to, we will make mistakes,” said Guillermo Ruiz-Longarte, treasurer of the Athletic board, on the club’s official website.
