Belgrade will host the second edition of the European Road Championships in 2027with competitions of 10 kilometers, half marathon (21.1 kilometers) and marathon (42.2 kilometers), the European Athletics Association (AEA) reported this Wednesday.
The decision was made at the Federation’s annual convention, held in Skopje.
The European road competitions are one of the newest competitions on the European athletics calendar.with its first edition in Leuven-Brussels (Belgium) in April 2025.
“One of the main aims of the European Running Championships is to bring together elite and non-elite distance runners, and we hope to see runners of all abilities, from professional athletes to novice runners, on the line of the start,” he said in a statement by the president of the European Athletics Federation, the Bulgarian Dobromir Karamarinov.
These Europeans in the Serbian capital will take place on April 17 and 18, 2027 and the organizers expect the participation of around 25,000 runners – beginners and professionals – in the three disciplines.
Belgrade hosted the European Indoor Athletics Championships in 2017from the 2022 Indoor World Cups and last March from the Cross Country World Cups.
