Manuel Pecino explains the decisive moments of the Thai GP sprint race held this Saturday in Buriram.
1
Right on Jorge Martín’s table
In a typical Martín start, he got to the first corner first, but went wide. A mistake that caused him to pass fifth on the first lap. But far from intimidated, Jorge continued to attack, overtaking Acosta, Marc Márquez and Bagnaia midway through the race. The Italian looks important to challenge for second place. Jorge added another two points to his lead over his title rival.

2
Bastianini’s reaction
He is alert. He took advantage of the confusion at the start to put himself ahead and set a pace that made him ‘comfortable’ to win the race. Saturday’s fifth consecutive podium for the Italian driver, who found in the second half of the season the pace he lacked at the start. When he has a day like today, he is unstoppable.

3
The excellence of the Ducati ’24 in the ’23 version
This is not something unknown, but in circuits like this one in Buriram, with two long straights, these differences, as seen in the case of Marc Márquez, are emphasized. By the way, engineer Dall’Igna’s motorcycles are historic results. His eight motorcycles on the track took the first eight positions… Nothing more to add, your honor.

4
Martín said ‘almost green’
On lap 7, when he overtook Bagnaia, Jorge exited the green. It was a situation with two laps to go and people were holding their breath in the box. If confirmed, this would mean a long lap penalty that would spoil Martín’s super comeback.

5
Acosta’s umpteenth fall
He tries to make bigger steps than his legs allow, that is, he wants to compete with Ducati on his KTM. The result: he has finished 4 of the last 11 races in which he has started. It doesn’t make any progress – engineers can’t collect data – and as happened in Australia, the risk of getting hurt increases dramatically. Pedo has to learn to live with his current situation and hopes that KTM will give him the weapons to fight the Ducati Empire.
