Integrating a power forward, to work with Radovic, and Jelínek very advanced, Gómez is shaping his new team
The summer of 2022 is very different for UCAM than last year, much more pleasant. An irregular course and empty stands left them wanting more, and the pursuit of continuity was evident, as up to ten of the thirteen players who made up the team this season just wore UCAM’s colors, and priority renewals like that of Before long before James Webb III and Isaiah Taylor bore fruit. The sports directorate got to work as soon as these players, with a much smaller media dimension than now, after more than a year in the second best league in the world, got into Sito’s idea of basketball on the right foot Alonzo.
As of today, only half of the team (actually less, as the next squad will consist of thirteen players) has been confirmed for next season. Of these, Gómez already has Bellas and Sakho and when Jelínek finally comes (pending disassociation from degraded Andorra), there will be three.
Of the two remaining players, one is the player who starts as number 13 in the rotation, the third baseman giving Trice and Bellas some breathing room, who will be young initially. But it is the position that is of least concern at the moment. Something else that gets into the pivotal position, where the kilo big man is more expensive, to replace Lima in which pieces of the puzzle. Because there will be three pivots that UCAM will have, one would be Sakho, furthest behind in the rotation, and the other Lima, the predictable starter, but with a more solvent replacement than Cate was last year.
Now Gómez needs a linchpin of guarantees and another who, if possible, can also be trusted, but first he must have played at least three seasons in Spain before turning 21, and the general manager already has that the blanket will be short on one side or the other.
Under these parameters, UCAM has set some priorities in interiors that have played in the Endesa League this year, but before moving forward, they need to clarify their immediate future a bit more.
