U-17 World Cup: North Korea awaits Spain or England in the final

Date:

The women’s group North Korea qualified for the final of U-17 World Cup played in the Dominican Republic by losing this Wednesday 0-1 against USA through Ro Un Hyang’s left footed shot in the 69th minute North Korea confirmed its growing power in women’s soccer since September as its U-20 team advanced to the World Cup final held in Colombia, which it defeated Japan.

The Spanish and English teams will play the other matches of the semifinals this Thursday in Santo Domingo. La Roja won the last edition of the U-17 World Cup played in 2022 in India. Ro Un Hyang scored the only goal of today’s match at the Cibao stadium in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros after an uncontrolled clearance by the US team’s defense. The shot, from mid-range, left goalkeeper Evan Osteen with no options. The North Koreans advanced to the semifinals after defeating Poland 1-0. North Korea won the U-17 World Cup twice, as did Spain.

North Korea’s first warning of the match came five minutes in when Choe Il Song was brought down in the area. The play was reviewed without VAR consequences. Now the United States proposed an offensive method that did not harm its rival. Choe Il Son, the North Korean star attacker, continues to create dangerous situations, as does Kang Ryu Mi.

In the continuation, the game remained closely contested with a treacherous North Korea trying to suffocate a rival of a lower technical level, but determined to avoid a devastating blow, which finally happened.
